DSS officials prevents EFCC operatives from arresting its former boss, Ita Ekpeyong and sacked NIA boss, Ayo Oke

DSS officials prevents EFCC operatives from arresting its former boss, Ita Ekpeyong and sacked NIA boss, Ayo Oke
There was tension in the Asokoro area of Abuja earlier today between officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to reports, EFCC operatives stormed the homes of the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke, and the immediate past director-general of the DSS, Ita Ekpeyong, both on Mamman Nasir street in Asokoro, in a bid to arrest both men. DSS operatives guiding the two top security officials resisted the move, resulting in a heated argument between them and the EFCC operatives.

EFCC had invited Oke for questioning in connection with the $43 million found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. Recall that President Buhari sacked Oke from office after the presidential panel led by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo that investigated the cash found in the Ikoyi apartment, indicted him.

The former DSS DG, Ita Ekpeyong, has been under investigation for his alleged role in the disbursement of funds meant for arms by the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (Retd.) The DSS has refused to release Ita to the DSS for questioning. The DSS and the EFCC have been at loggerheads for over a year which culminated in the DSS sending a report to the Senate not to confirm the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.
