Gregg Ormondroyd moved carer Anne Robinson into his
family home near Bradford, West Yorkshire so she could take care of his
wife Donna who is in a vegetative state. Donna had collapsed and stopped
breathing in her home two years ago, due to a severe brain injury, and
was put in a medically-induced coma. By the time she was brought out of
the coma after three weeks she was already in a vegetative state,
needing 24-hour care.
The father-of-four and the carer have been posting happy photos of
each other on Facebook asn say that they are in a relationship, and this
angered his wife's family. His wife's parents are understood to be
devastated over their son-in-law's alleged "inappropriate" new
relationship with the carer, who has reportedly quit her job because
carers are not allowed to have relations with their patients or their
family.
Ormondroyd and the carer
But the former bus driver has denied the relationship. He told how busy he was helping look after Donna, 36, with her 32-year-old carer and his young kids.
Mr Ormondroyd, 31, said: "A carer is not allowed to have a relationship with any patient or a member of a patient's family."
He insisted: "Absolutely not. We are not in a relationship."
He went on to add that "It's all come as a bit of a shock and the story has no real correct facts.
"I don't want to talk about Anne. I'm at a loss to how and why these claims are being made and who is making them."
But pictures don't lie and their Facebook photos seem to be telling a different story.
A family friend told The Sun: "It's been bad enough that Donna went from a bright and bubbly young mum to someone who needs 24-hour care overnight. But the fact that Gregg has started a relationship with someone who was nursing Donna, and Anne has now moved in, is very upsetting for her family. It is going on under the noses of Donna and her children and Donna is not in a state to challenge it."
Mr Ormondroyd denied it, saying: "There are people who don't know about my life looking from the outside in. I've no interest in speaking to anyone to be honest, not at this moment in time. I've got my babies and my wife to look after and I don't want to make any further comment.'"
The Ormondroyds had been together for more than six years and had been married just over a year when she collapsed. She defied doctors to survive and come out of the coma and has now recovered physically, but her vegetative state means she shows no signs of awareness and is barely responsive.
