Three suspected armed robbers who attacked a woman and
dispossessed her of cash have been arrested in Nungua, Greater Accra
Region.
Police have launched manhunt for a police officer allegedly involved in the robbery operation.
It was gathered that on December 12, at 9:30 pm, four armed
men wielding AK 47 assault rifles on board Toyota Corolla Taxi cab
with reg. no. GX 9514-13 attacked one Madam Hellen Asante of Asante
Supermarket near Agric Dev. Bank, Nungua and robbed her of cash the sum
of Forty five thousand Ghana Cedis amidst sporadic firing and bolted
with the booty.
Police quickly gave the suspects a chase and got them
intercepted at Abatoir Police Snap Check Point but one of them managed
to escape.
An amount of Nineteen thousand, five hundred Ghana Cedis,
six hundred USA dollars, a pistol with six rounds of ammunition were
retrieved from suspects Ibrahim Ayirebo, Bright Dorkanu and Stanley
Akorli.
The fourth suspect whose name was given by them as Raymond
Amegashie, a Police Officer at Tema Community 1 Police Station, escape
with unspecified amount or money and two AK 47 rifles.
The suspects are in police custody and exhibit retained.
Information gathered from the C1 district commander indicates that
Raymond Amegashie is with the SWAT team at the district.
