Legenedary South African singer Robbie Malinga died on Christmas day after suffering from anaemia.
The 47-year-old reportedly died in his home and condolences have been pouring in from people all over the world as South Africans mourn the songwriter/producer.

The music veteran was confirmed dead on Monday by his manager Sipho Dube. Malinga has been in-and-out of hospital over the last few months. He was admitted to hospital in June where he was diagnosed with anaemia. On Christmas day, he succumbed to the long illness which he had battled for months. Times Live  reports that Malinga "suddenly died" died at his home. The details around Malinga’s death are still unclear.
Only a few weeks ago, Malinga had celebrated his 17-year wedding anniversary with his wife in Paris, France.
Before his death, he told Sowetan Live: "I was scared for my kids man. My kids are so spoilt. I make sure that I do everything for them. My wife as well, she’s still young to have her husband die. It was scary but I’m a strong person, I am a believer."
Politicians, fellow musicians, and many others have taken to social media to express shock at Malinga's passing.
Former Public Protector advocate Thuli Madonsela tweeted: "Saddened by the passing of singer and music producer Robbie Malinga. Thank You for the music Robbie. Heartfelt condolences to family, friends and colleagues. #RIPRobbieMalinga".
Musician Lira tweeted a video and said: "I was looking forward to seeing @RobbieMalinga on stage on Jan 1st. My deepest condolences to his family and fans. South Africa has lost a legendary producer & musician. #RIPRobbieMalinga".
Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa took to social media to send his condolences to the musician and producer.
"South African music legend Robbie Malinga’s musical genius was evident from the early years of his career when he produced this Kwaito classic by Doc Shebeleza “Gets Getsa” #RememberingRobbieMalinga #RIPRobbieMalinga," Mthethwa tweeted on Tuesday morning.
On Monday night the minister tweeted: "We’re heartbroken to learn the news of the untimely passing of legendary Kwaito & Afro Pop producer, Robbie Malinga. We have lost an illustrious Kwaito pioneer who paved the way for future generations of artists. We send our deepest sympathies to his loved ones. #RIPRobbieMalinga".
The official South African Twitter account also paid tribute to the legend, writing: "We’re heartbroken to learn the news of the untimely passing of Robbie Malinga. We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones & fans. #RIPRobbieMalinga".
Malinga had a number of hit songs and albums which included Nguwe Lo and Baby Please, The Duets, Lilizela Mzantsi and African Love Story.
